Things to do in Ingleton "regardless" of the weather

When the weather throws all shapes at you and your best laid plans have to take on a new shape. What do you do?

Adventure you'll find regardless of the weather in Ingleton - Antiques, Swimming, Climbing, walking, caves.
Lazy days or active days, indoors or out, we'll find an adventure to suit you

Ask us for advice, we're here to help and we often have a crafty plan up our sleeve.

  • Too hot for the dogs to walk on the footpaths

  • Too wet for the children to play out

  • Too windy to walk up a mountain

  • Too dry that there's no water to make a water-fall

Just let us know what you had planned and we might just have the tweak you need to make it happen. With Ingleton being the land of caves and waterfalls, you know this is where the adventure starts. After 10 years of exploring the area first hand, we can give you alternative options in places you'll have never heard of and places you didn't know should have been on your bucket list.

Idea #3: Whitescar or Yordas?

Things to do in Ingleton Idea #1: Playing games

a happy boy laughing while playing cards with his mum and Dad at Meadow Falls Campsite

Need a break from the sunshine or hiding from the showers, there's nothing more special than sharing a laugh over a game of cards.

Whether you're out in the sunshine, snuggled up in your glamping pod or tucked away in a cosy café, card games are a brilliant way to create memories.

Simple things can often be the best, our village is filled with great places to eat and drink, so grab a game (it doesn't have to be cards; Dominos, Scrabble, Dobble, hangman, eye spy, whatever you choose) and spend a lazy afternoon forgetting about the outside world.

Recreate those magical childhood memories by teaching traditional games, or get creative and invent new ones with the family!

Just remember NO CHEATING!!!

Idea #2: Thunderous Waterfalls or Woodland Walk?

The sun has been shining for a month and the Ingleton Waterfall trail you've been dreaming of is all dried up. Ok so there isn't much I can do about that, there's isn't a tap at the top I can switch on. It's still a great walk; well maintained paths, spots to paddle or dip and even woods to shelter from the sun.

However, we do have different walks, that are a bit more off the beaten track and we think you'll love them, so come talk to us about Edith's wood or Burton river.

You can't make a water falls without any water!

On the flip side, you've been dreaming of a hot sunny day and a refreshing dip in the waterfalls, but it's persisting down. GO DO IT!! It's the best you'll see it, like others can only dream of. Throw on your waterproofs and boots and enjoy. When you come back, there'll be a fabulous hot sparkly shower just ready to welcome you and you'll be filled with the thrill of the day.

Idea #3: Caves!! Whitescar or Yordas

 and flapjack biscuits.

White Scar Cave is Britain's longest show cave and an absolutely spectacular escape from the rain or sun. The cave maintains a constant cool temperature year-round (around 8°C), making it a refreshing escape on a hot day and a cosy adventure when it's wet outside. It's truly an all-weather wonder!

A mile-long journey deep beneath Ingleborough, where your 80-minute guided tour will reveal:

- Thousands of incredible stalactites and stalagmites in a dazzling array of formations.

- The magnificent Battlefield Cavern, one of the largest in Britain, with its roof soaring 100 feet high!

- Prepare for the squeeze, the witches fingers and the devils tongue.

So, grab your jacket, explore a hidden world, and prepare to be truly wowed!

It's very rare the caves closes. However, as a naturally formed cave by an underground river, you can be assured safety is paramount. That's why we have secret back up plan caves to tell you about, for those. Just in case moments!

Idea #4: Lords antiques

Idea #5: Can you get any wetter?

When you're wet, you're wet, right? So, you can't get any wetter.

What better place to go than Ingleton outdoor swimming pool, you might think it's only for hot days, well think again!

A refreshing dip or fun splash about!

Outdoor swimming pool, Ingleton. Last of the many Lido's of the UK.

There's something uniquely exhilarating about swimming outdoors when the rain is falling. I remember it fondly from my childhood – splashing about, feeling the cool drops on your face, and realising the weather just doesn't matter when you're having that much fun!

Ingleton Outdoor Swimming Pool, is just a stroll away from Meadow Falls - Camping, Glamping and Touring The 20m pool has been a asset to the village since 1933, originally fed by the river, it has been renovated many times over the years and is now heated for the summer.

So, ditch the umbrella, grab your swimsuit, and make a splash! You might just discover your new favourite rainy-day (or any day!) activity.

Idea #6: Climbing; Indoors or out?
